Star was written by Jim Irwin for a 1982 PopLlama Christmas cassette called Astray In The Manger produced by Conrad Uno and Bill Jedrzejewski. Jim sang the song with backing instrumentalists from the extended PopLlama musical family. When Moving Parts reformed and went back in the studio with Conrad Uno in the fall of 2010, Jim decided to re-record the song. It was released in December 2010 as the first single for the newly reformed band. As they finished recording their new LP, Moving Parts changed their name to Empire Of Sleep. Star is the final track on their new self titled LP.
